Happy New Year! It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone. I don’t usually make resolutions that I will probably break within a week. For the last few years, I have been picking a word or phrase to challenge and guide me through the year. For this year, my phrase is “follow through” because I am good at starting projects but not so good at finishing them.
Today I joined a FaceBook group called “Shoot It: 365 Photo-A-Day Challenge.” They post a list of daily themes, a month at a time, and you take a photo that fits the posted theme, how you interpret it and post it on the page. The theme for today is “First Photo of 2018.”

It’s 9:54 pm. Have I taken a photo to post yet? Nope. Help!!!! I got a cold for Christmas so I thought of taking a picture of my used tissues – gross, I know. I’m watching college football with my dad so I thought about taking a photo of him laying on the couch watching TV. I’m starting to get desperate. I could take a photo of his tree with the lights turned off as a metaphor for the end of the holiday season. Maybe I am over-thinking this whole thing.
I just walked into the kitchen and looked at the thermometer. It’s 9 degrees outside. I’m in Tennessee. This is COLD! So, here’s my first photo of 2018:
