This September, right around the time hurricane Irma came calling, I went on a road trip with my dad. We started from his house in Franklin, TN and traveled to New England. The first stop was Kings Point, NY – home of the USMMA (United States Merchant Marine Academy) – where my brother-in-law was being inducted into their athletic hall of fame. It was a lovely weekend, especially seeing old friends and family. I took the first picture when we were walking around the ground of the academy and the second one from the patio at Melville Hall on campus.
After the festivities were over we continued on our road trip to my hometown in Connecticut for a couple of days. Here are some shots I took with my phone. The first was in response to my sister texting me asking where we were. The second is a shot of the town hall. The next one was taken in Stony Creek, which is part of Branford. The last one is one of the old homes along the shore that have a widow’s walk.
From there we continued on our road trip to Massachusetts. We were going to visit the brother of my dad’s wife who passed away earlier this year. They have a cottage on Plum Island, which is on the coast. Hurricane Jose had parked itself offshore and stirred up plenty of bad weather. The first photo is a plower flying out of the bog at low tide. The next one is a landscape shot of the houses on the island. I love all the different colors! The last picture was taken while we watched the remnants of Jose nearing the beach.
